1. I HAVE PROBLEMS DOWNLOADING THE SOFTWARE.
The DASIG application is distributed as an executable installer. Both Windows and web browsers deploy protections to stop users from running programs that may harm their computers. Corporate and University environments may also block the downloading of executable files. Follow these steps to determine the reason:
- After clicking on the download link, verify if the browser has not blocked the download. All browsers provide options to continue the download and save the file. The procedure varies slightly according to your browser, but all offer the option to “Keep” the installer file.
- Antivirus software may also block downloading or quarantine the installer file. Check the documentation for the antivirus program if you have one installed.
- Corporate and institutional networks often block the downloading of executable files. Their network protection programs may not issue any specific warning, and may even block the access to download pages. Ask you local IT support for help.
2. WHAT TO DO IF THE SOFTWARE INSTALLATION FAILS?
Currently, DASIG is available only for Windows 10 and 11. The application is distributed as an executable installer, which can be downloaded from the download section:
Following Windows guidelines, DASIG can be installed only for the user running the installer program, or for all users of the computer. We recommend to install DASIG for the current user, as it does not require administrative privileges. However, organizations may enforce their own policies that preclude software installations by some users. Contact your local IT support if Windows or the installation program itself reports you do not have the required permissions for installation.
3. DO I NEED TO INSTALL PYTHON OR R INSTALLED ON MY COMPUTER TO RUN DASIG?
NO. DASIG is programmed in Python and it also requires R for some operations. The DASIG installer includes both environments so that users do not have to deal with installing and maintaining additional software.
4. I HAVE PYTHON AND/OR R INSTALLED ON MY COMPUTER; WILL DASIG AFFECT THESE INSTALLATIONS?
NO. DASIG does not modify any existing installation on your computer.
